Data corruption errors are commonly displayed as "Corrupt game data in block: 1, size: XXX.Error: -3.Make sure that your game files are not corrupt by <VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES...> in steam." and can occur for a number of reasons. Sometimes, simply using the 'Verify the Integrity of Game Files' option does not solve the issue in which case there's something else contributing to the error.
Below, we've listed the solutions that have been known to work for our players.
Verify Integrity of Game Files
The 'Verify Integrity of Game Files' option is accessible via the Steam client and will ensure the installation is complete. An incomplete installation is likely to produce crashes, a loss of performance or other issues.
- Right-click Vermintide 2 or Darktide in your Steam library sidebar
- Select 'Properties'
- Select the 'Installed Files' tab
- Select the 'Verify Integrity of Game Files' button
- When complete, close and reopen Steam
Disable Your Mods
It's been brought to our attention that some mods may be resulting in persistent data corruption errors. Please disable any installed mods and if this solves your issue, subsequently re-enable the mods one-by-one, to perform a process of elimination and determine which mod is responsible for the errors.
Once identified, we recommend that you alert the mod author, as we don't handle mod-related issues ourselves.

Check Your Drives
A bad drive may be resulting in your data becoming corrupted. Please scan your drives for errors using the instructions below.
- Navigate to 'This PC' (or 'My Computer')
- Right-click your drive
- Select 'Properties'
- Select the 'Tools' tab
- Under 'Error checking', select 'Check'
- A "You don't need to scan this drive" notification may pop up if on Windows 8/10. Proceed with the scan anyway by selecting 'Scan Drive'
If errors are produced, we recommend that you seek advice from a hardware specialist.
Check Your RAM
Faulty RAM (Random-Access Memory) can also result in your data becoming corrupted, similarly to the above. You can check your RAM for errors using the Windows Memory Diagnostic by:
- Press the Windows key + R
- Enter mdsched.exe and select 'OK'
- When ready, select the 'Restart now and check for problems' option
- Allow the scan to complete
If errors are produced, we recommend that you seek advice from a hardware specialist.
Check Your RAM Speeds
Mismatched RAM (Random-Access Memory) modules have been known to produce these errors for some players. Please ensure your all of your RAM modules are operating at the same speeds by:
- Open the Command Prompt as an administrator
- Enter the command:
wmic memorychip get speed
The speeds listed should all be the same, e.g:
If the speeds are not matching, we recommend that you seek advice from a hardware specialist.
Disable Your Overclocks
Unstable overclocks have been known to produce this error. If any of your components are overclocked, we recommend reverting the component to it's original clock.
Re-Scan Your MSI Afterburner Overclocks
If you're an MSI Afterburner user, you may need to re-scan your overclocks.
Check for Viruses and Malware
Viruses and malware can corrupt your data, so we recommend that you scan your PC for malicious software using a reputable Anti-Virus and/or Anti-Malware program of your choosing.
Disable Background Applications
Background applications - commonly overlays or hooks such as RivaTuner, ShadowPlay, Fraps, ReShade and AMD Chill - can interfere with the workings of Vermintide 2 or Darktide.
A Selective Startup can help identify whether a background application is the cause of your crashes:
- Press the Windows key
- Type 'msconfig' and select 'System Configuration'
- On the 'General' tab, select 'Selective Startup'
- Deselect 'Load startup Items'
- Reboot your PC
If the errors no longer occur after having performed the Selective Startup, try re-introducing your programs one-by-one to determine which is causing your issue.
Intel i9 13900k/14900k and Intel i7 13700k/14700k: Underclock 'Performance Core' Speed
It has been noted that players with the Intel i9 13900k/14900k and Intel i7 13700k/14700k CPUs are prone to these crashes. Players have been able to work around this by underclocking the 'Performance Core' speed using Intel XTU, from x55 to x53.
