Check Your Volume Mixer
Check that the volume is set appropriately for Vermintide 2 or Darktide:
- Right-click the speaker icon within the Taskbar
- Select the 'Open Volume Mixer' option
- Ensure the volume for the Vermintide 2 or Darktide is set appropriately:
Check Your Default Format
Ensure your 'Default Format' is set no higher than 24 bit, 48000 Hz:
- Right-click the speaker icon in the Taskbar
- Select 'Sounds'
- Select the 'Playback' tab
- Right-click your output device and select 'Properties'
- Select the 'Advanced' tab
- Within the 'Default Format' dropdown, select 24 bit, 48000 Hz
- Save your changes
Check Your Audio Channels
If using a headset or pair of speakers, change your Windows audio settings to utilise 2 channels (as opposed to 5.1 or 7.1):
- Right-click the speaker icon in the Taskbar
- Select 'Sounds'
- Select the 'Playback' tab
- Right-click your output device and select 'Configure Speakers'
- Select 'Stereo' and proceed through the setup wizard
Enable Spatial Sound
If using a headset, you may need to ensure 'Spatial sound' is enabled in Windows 10.
Change Your In-Game Speaker Configuration
Check that your 'Speaker Configuration' (Vermintide 2) or 'Speaker Settings' (Darktide) within the 'Audio' menu appropriately reflects your set-up.
[Darktide] Disable Nightmode
In the event that audio sounds less intense in Darktide, check if 'Nightmode' has been enabled via the 'Audio Mix Presets' option within the 'Audio' menu.
If 'Nightmode' is enabled, select another option.
Update Your Audio Drivers
Make sure your audio drivers are up-to-date:
- Navigate to the Device Manager
- Expand the 'Sound, video and game controllers' dropdown
- Right-click your sound controller within the list
- Select the 'Update driver' option
- Follow the instructions on-screen
